Good morning, everyone!  As we are hibernating, I have assigned my advanced theatre kids an assignment where they have to write and perform a play, portraying all of the characters themselves.  We had spent the semester working on character development, and I thought this would be a fun way for all of ...

Hello all - I have a bit of an emergency and could use your help. All of the sound cues that I created for my upcoming production of Bad Seed have vanished from the program I was designing them on. Is there anyone who might be able to “lend” (give) us their cues electronically from when they did it? ...

You may also want to look at Lare Booth Luce's The Women - it is a wonderful and funny play, with a large cast of all women. ------------------------------ J. Michael Beech Gastonia NC ------------------------------

Has anyone produced Maxwell Anderson's Bad Seed at the high school level?  Were there any issues with the subject matter?  How did you get through them?  I'm looking at this play as our Fall Production, but I want to go into administration armed with information on how to get around any issues that may ...

I'm so glad that you had a positive experience with this man.  Mine was not so.  He was not transparent at all about his workshops and basically made me feel very awkward and uncomfortable when at the end of his talk (which was awesome), he started to tell the students about how they would now be "auditioning" ...

My administration asked us to get rid of some of our excess in our trailer and I came across our very large Audrey II puppets from Little Shop. If anyone is interested, we are located in Mount Holly, North Carolina. We’d like to get rid of them if anyone wants them! If you’d like to make an offer...we ...

Has anyone had issues getting their deposit/rental fees back when a show has been canceled? We had to cancel our spring musical and even though we never opened the box or rented anything, they are still keeping over 400$ rental fee. I find it a bit excessive, especially when my overall budget is about ...

I taught a film and literature course at my high school last year. Is this something you would be interested in looking at?  We covered short stories and the Disney-ification of them in relation to how it affects the female psyche, script to screen, using the screenplay as literature (Rebel Without A ...

I think "Just One Person" from Snoopy might work as well. It has the "add on" solo take, as well as an inspirational message and melody. Just my two cents worth. Best wishes with it! ------------------------------ J. Michael Beech Gastonia NC ------------------------------

Hello all. I am in need of some help. I teach at a fairly rural high school in North Carolina, and honestly, theatre is not very high on the priority list of anyone other than myself and VERY few students. We were supposed to produce High School Musical in the spring, but I could not cast it with ...

Hi David. I used to substitute teach in Raleigh, North Carolina at Needham Broughton high school. They had an incredible TV production studio that was run by the students. Unfortunately I do not remember any names, and I'm not even sure if the teacher is the same. It might be a starting point though. ...

Thank you all so much for your insight and encouragement! I needed it! I had a second round of auditions, and still do not have enough students to do that show. I went and had a heart to heart with the chorus students, many of whom had done my musical last year, and I asked them why they didn't bother ...

Today I had auditions for our spring musical (School House Rock Live!) and although students have known for weeks, only five students signed up. Of those, only four actually showed up, and of those, only two could feasibly be cast. Has anyone run into this issue? What have you done? Is it just me or ...

There's a musical out there which started as Masada, but is now called Imagine This. It has some great music, nicely developed characters and a great message that will definitely make for great post-show discussions... Not sure who holds the U.S. Rights, as it played in London some years ago and is available ...

I'd love to send you my version! It incorporates movement, lots of characters and a very involved ensemble. Let me know where to send it. I last produced it in 2005 and I am producing it again in the fall as well. ------------------------------ J. Michael Beech Gastonia NC ------------------------------ ...

Hi Sharon. I also have a version that I adapted a while ago, and I have dusted it off to perform this year with my students! I'd be happy to send you a copy if you are interested! I'd love to see my version performed somewhere else, and there would be a DEEP DISCOUNT on the royalties! Jmbeech@hotmail.com ...

You might also want to try using white or translucent Plexiglas for your facings. This diffuses the light and you shouldn't be able to see the cross beams and lamps. ------------------------------ J. Michael Beech Gastonia NC ------------------------------
