I need a somewhat low tech solution to make it rain flower petals onstage.  We don't have a fly system or much of a grid, but I could could mount a pipe overhead to hold whatever the petals fall from.  Thoughts? ------------------------------ Stephanie Vitulli Middle School Theater Director Highlands ...

It says 18 cast members, but it's flexible.  The monologues can be stand alone and other scenes have room for extras. ------------------------------ Stephanie Vitulli Middle School Theater Director Highlands Ranch CO ------------------------------

I established my Junior Troupe last year and I still have 8th graders who have gone on to High School listed as active members.  Do I have manually designate them as alumi now or does Edta do that automatically at a certain point? ------------------------------ Stephanie Vitulli Middle School Theater ...

I work on a modified block schedule.  Monday, Tuesday and Friday I see all of my classes for 48 minutes and on Wednesday and Thursday I see odd numbered and even numbered for 90 minutes.   Block periods are great for rehearsing, researching and working on tech projects without interruption. My advice ...

I'm looking for idea for creating a moving rowboat onstage for Peter Pan and Wendy.  I'm thinking a wheeled cart of some kind with a boat facade on the audience side, but I'm not sure how best to accomplish the movement across the stage. ------------------------------ Stephanie Vitulli Middle School ...

I need to create a large prop rock for Marauder's rock in Peter Pan and Wendy.  It needs to be large enough for 4-5 people to sit on, sturdy enough to stand on, tall enough to hide people sitting behind it and light enough to be moved by middle school stage hands. ------------------------------ Stephanie ...

Has anyone ever hung bare bulbs onstage before?  I'd really like to try something like this in my spring show, but I'm not sure how to tackle it. My school is on the smaller side and I don't have a fancy light set up or a light designer at my disposal. I have a simple light board that operates on a wireless ...

You Can't Take it With You is one of my favorites.  If you have physical actors, maybe Noises Off or a Neil Simon comedy like Rumors. ------------------------------ Stephanie Vitulli Middle School Theater Director Highlands Ranch CO ------------------------------

After dealing with Disney and MTI, I found Sam French to be incredibly reasonable!  It's good to know they are open to discussion about accommodations for smaller theaters.    Plays Magazine is a good resource - All plays rights are included with a subscription. Theatrefolk and Pioneer Drama are ...

I am a Theater Director and a smallish public Charter school with a growing Performing Arts Department.  I am looking to purchase equipment for a simple backstage communication system for our performances. I was thinking a basic set of belt clip two way radios with wired headsets for maybe 4-5 people ...

Music Man is great when you have lots of women to cast.  You just need a strong Harold, Mayor Shinn and a younger boy to play Winthrop. Great dance opportunities as well in the Shipoopi and the Library scene. ------------------------------ Stephanie Vitulli Middle School Theater Director Highlands ...

I am looking for suggestions for full length straight plays (no musicals) for my Spring Middle School Production. My students are pretty advanced and just came off a very successful run of the full length version of The Diary of Anne Frank. I'd like to find either a Fantasy, a Mystery or something based ...

My 8th grade students performed Box by by Lindsay Price and they really enjoyed it.  I think it would work for high school or middle school.  We also wrote some bonus vignettes in class and added them to the performance. ------------------------------ Stephanie Vitulli Middle School Theater Director ...
