One thing I tried recently that had some very interesting results, was having students submit the first round audition as a video.  It is more and more necessary for students to submit videos for scholarship and college auditions so I wanted to give them some experience with this.  After the show was ...

When I did the Anouilh version many years ago, I divided the chorus lines up into three different parts, one male student represented male dominated society, and two female who represented youth and age. It could also be done with a large choral ensemble to back and echo the three. I also did "The Women ...

We do for musicals.  I charge $25 for quarter page, $50 for half and $100 for full.  Full page comes with two complementary tickets.  Sometimes I have also included a "Shout Out" page that gives you a couple lines on the  page of $5.00. I typically run about 12-15 pages of ads so I can print a slicker, ...

If you do Antigone, try the Jean Anouilh version.  I did it many years ago and had great success. ------------------------------ Jenny Brotherton Drama Coach-Teacher Scranton PA ------------------------------

What about video auditions? This is the way many of them are and will be auditioning for colleges and lots of other things. I used this idea for the first time this fall and it was interesting. I selected a few song choices, found you tube karaoke versions of the songs both with  and without lyrics and ...

In an effort to keep things pretty simple, we use different colors of fabric or hem tape, a different color for each source.  We cut small swatches of the fabric and use small safety pins to pin them into the costumes.  We try to be consistent as to where it's pinned so you don't have to search each ...

You can build a beard on the actor with crepe hair and latex. Instead of an actual ventilated piece, you can use a piece of nylon stocking as a backing so that the beard will be reusable. (I apply the nylon to the face with latex first, and then build on top of that.) There are several youtube videos ...

Hi, I used to be the Drama Teacher at Boise High, oh so many years ago (1984-88) and am thrilled to hear you're getting a new space.  What about "Quilters" as an idea?  I know the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, with whom I also worked at the time, did the show during that late 80's time frame.  I also know ...

In regards to how you can make the picture fall off the wall and reveal the telescreen, I had a similar dilemma when working on the final scene of "Blithe Spirit." We ended up cutting small holes in the flats that were just a little larger than a small dowel. At the point the object needs to fall (in ...

Both available through Amazon used books. The "A train" is $5.95 and the other is $2.95. Just a thought... That's where I get most of my single copies of scripts, both for myself and for my students. I don't let them do a scene if they can't read the whole play. ------------------------------ ...
