PBS has a wonderful series on the History of Theatre, called Crash Course Theater, that is great for middle and high school students. Each video is roughly 15-20 minutes long. ------------------------------ Beth Keith Theatre Teacher Harrisonville High School Grandview MO ------------------- ...

We use On The Stage, and our check was delayed about a week, but otherwise they have been 100% on the ball.  They are also all set to promote for virtual shows too. :-) ------------------------------ Beth Keith Theatre Teacher Harrisonville High School Grandview MO ------------------- ...

I paint on muslin and canvas often, and depending on the weight of the canvas, you shouldn't have to pre-treat the fabric. Muslin is much cheaper, but it will require a base treatment. The cheapest way to do that is to make your own. Two parts white Elmer's glue, (I buy the gallon jugs,) and one part ...

We did The Pajama Game last year, and it was really fun. You have an unlimited number of factory members you can use. Hello Dolly was also a huge hit! The more waiters, the better. Also, Drowsy Chaperone and The Addams Family come to mind. -Beth Keith

I'm looking to produce A Midsummer Night's Dream next year, but I'm not sure what version might be a good one to do. Have any of you found a version you particularly like? I just can't see doing the entire show, in it's original format, at our school. Thanks! ------------------------------ Beth ...

I use that 1st class as a survey course. That way I'm able to attract kids who aren't intrested in acting, but are OK taking a fine arts course. We cover jobs/chain-of-command in theater, the history of theater, improv, we read a play or 2, puppetry, pantomime, and more. In that makes the class less ...

We have a 2 show minimum on the season (we do 3 main-stage shows, the competitive one-act and Reader's Theatre, and 2 other one-acts each year). They can be on or back-stage, or one of each. AND they have to participate in at least 3 other Theatre Department activities that year. (For example; canned ...

Over the past 16 years I have tried nearly every configuration, but I have come back to, and landed on the idea of just using tables and chairs. I have six 6 foot long tables that fold up. The trick with them is to make sure they are the high quality tables, because we do move them around and stack ...

I run my Stagecraft classes as a combination of both design and hands on. The very first thing we do of course is tools and safety. Until they pass the tools and safety test they're not allowed to touch anything that plugs in or is battery-powered. (Basically they can only carry things around, go get ...

I too was going to suggest you're a good man Charlie Brown. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee may work for you as well, as they're playing children, therefore don't have to have that romantic lead the voice kind of thing. ------------------------------ Beth Keith Theatre Teacher Harrisonville ...

When it comes to LED lighting, I cannot stress enough that you get what you pay for. Low-end LED lights have color issues, and will not come up and fade easily. You will notice skipping between light levels, rather than a smooth fade. While there are some good Chauvet fixtures out there, I strongly ...
