I had the good fortune to play Mrs. Clackett in our college production. We used fishing lures mixed with a bit of mineral oil. This made them just slimy enough to slide off of any plate onto one's head. And the oil washed out easily. Lisa TierneyCoffee High SchoolTheatre Arts/Thespian Troupe 4 ...

I, too, have a game day. My students love playing Reverse Charades and Guesstures. They are both excellent "theatre" games and it is something different than the games we play in class. This year, I have purchased 5 Second Rule and Headbanz to add to the "Game Day" repertoire. ------------------------------ ...

I have been approached with the idea of developing a theatre camp for the city's parks and recreation department. Their idea is to have a Monday-Thursday, two-week camp with a performance on the Friday of the second week. I have never done anything like this before, so I really don't know where to start. ...

I purchased 2 9x9 bookcases (you know the square kind that uses the boxes for storage) and a sheet of plywood. To make a cutting table at home. I also put a sheet of sheetrock covered with muslin and craft paper over the top of the plywood so that I might also use it with pushpins. In the event that ...

I also had this issue when I first came to the high school from a middle school language arts class. As I had done in the academic class, I used my states standards as the guide for developing the class and content. It is still a work in progress as what works well one year doesn't work as well the next. ...

I, too, have a slightly bias opinion, but having attended both a small university and a very large national university, I think I can honestly say that the best musical theatre program was at the smaller college. Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia offers an excellent musical theatre program ...

I use https://www.disfix.com/ out of Jacksonville, FL. They are extremely helpful and reasonably priced. I know they ship, but I'm sure you could find a similar company closer to where you are. Just google store fixtures. ------------------------------------------- Lisa Tierney Director Coffee ...

I cannot say enough about how great EF is. We spent 5 days in NYC in early June and it was just wonderful. I didn't have to worry about a single thing. They are very personable and will work very hard to get the your tour just as you like. ------------------------------------------- Lisa Tierney ...

In one scene of the show we are doing for One Act competition, there is a sudden puff of smoke that comes from off stage. First thought was to use a fog machine, but I don't think that will build up enough "smoke" in the short length of time allotted. Now I am considering using a flash pot, but I am ...

Take time to go to Bath, England. It is a beautiful town with a beautiful history! And of course you will want to visit Stratford-Upon-Avon. Even though it is a huge tourist trap, it is still exciting to walk where the bard has tread. ------------------------------------------- Lisa Tierney ...

I use creative thinking prompts called "What if". They are whimsical, unrealistic thoughts that students can respond to. An example would be "What if you created a new food dish called Spluf? Write the recipe." A majority of these were found in a small flip book that I used many years ago while teaching ...

What if the parent organizations of the various schools were to donate towards the production, say $50 per school? I know that the parent organizations paid us $100 to bring a show to their respective schools in years past. Perhaps this might work for you, too. ------------------------------------------- ...
