Good Afternoon! We have been given a space to utilize as a scene shop and I am hoping to collect ideas from folks that have transformed a classroom-type space for this purpose.  I would love to hear about your layouts, must-dos, and any low-budget transformation ideas.  Also, if you are willing to ...

I have a group of 6 girls who are all pretty strong and I am looking for a group scene for them.  The quality of the scene is more important to me than its style.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance! ------------------------------ Greg Franklin Director of Choral Music ...

I can personally recommend Booktix and Ludus.  I have used both companies.  The biggest difference between the two is that Booktix provides equipment for you to use on site, including ticket stock.  Ludus works for schools who prefer to just print tickets on a regular printer.  Both do online ticketing.  ...

I have been waiting for some "official word" addressing the issue.  This morning, however, I kept seeing more and more affirmations of the work from an article announcing an extension of the run, to Broadway actors wanting it transferred to NYC.  The article I read touted their $3500 budget compared ...

I currently use Ludus and find it very user-friendly and have received outstanding customer service.  In the past, I have used Booktix and I was happy with them well.  Overall, the cost for Booktix was a little more, but they send you the printer, scanner, and tickets.  If you already have your own equipment ...

Tis the season for snow... I am new to my school which has no auditorium. We have a fairly large theatre classroom where we have tried our best to mimic a black box. I need snow for our December show, but I am not at all sure how to approach it in this space. I familiar with snow slings and snow machines, ...

I recently received a quote from EarTec for a 3 headset system and it was about $560.  You wouldn't need to purchase a hub unless you go over 5 users.  So, I think you could easily get a five-person system for under $1000. ------------------------------ Greg Franklin Denver NC -------------- ...

It depends on what your stage surface is like, but I was able to stage that with the students just “skating” in their socks. We just made sure the stage was swept well before each performance. --------------------------------- Greg Franklin Denver NC ---------------------------------

I have used timeclockfree.com before.  The students learn to clock in and clock out like it's their job.  They can access it on their phone, but I typically have an old iPad or computer set up somewhere that everyone uses.  It wasn't something I loved, but it was the best I could find.  Might be worth ...

Hi All! My school has no performance space. A consulting team has visited our school and provided a quote to convert a large classroom to a black box. We are trying to raise the funds to make this happen and I am putting together a presentation for prospective donors to help them visualize what our ...

I would definitely check out the Basic Set Construction from the Practical Technical Theatre by Bob and Marty Fowler.  It includes videos and accompanying materials that discuss safety and then take the students through some basic builds.  I would certainly approach the principal about acquiring these ...

I know that some districts don't give you flexibility in choosing your Learning Management System, but I am curious if there is a favorite out there.  Out of Haiku, Google Classroom, Canvas, Flipgrip, or any others out there, is there one that you have found works best for what we do in the theatre classroom?  ...
