Do the services direct deposit your proceeds or send a check? If it's direct deposit, do you have it connected to a school account or to an outside school (booster) account? Thank you. ------------------------------ Brett Buffum Theatre Teacher Spring Hill KS ------------------------------

I have a TON of thoughts and possible helps, but at the moment I'm frantically searching for solutions to my play before the Super Bowl that my Chiefs are in. SOOOOO... I won't be able to give all of the helps today, but wanted to let you know I'm going to. Also, if you don't hear from me in a day or ...

So, this is my first full Shakespeare production and I want to do it right. I teach Shakespeare in different ways throughout my classes and we work on monologues, so I have comfort with the material, but want to again pick all of your awesome brains to figure out best practices. 1. Cut the script ...

1. Cut the line "I was top of my class...all of the boys were underneath."  Then just stage it so that she's teasing and abusing the boys....they try to win her attention, she pushes them and walks away...they dust themselves off and try again...repeat...repeat...repeat :) So the song is that they like ...

So many here have such amazing experiences and insights into producing Shakespeare at the high school level.  I'd love to tap the hive and see what results on this question. The results will greatly help me in selecting which play is my first full Shakespeare production experience. 1. What is your ...

Nancee, When we did it, I don't think I overplayed the tons and tons of layers.  I had the two actors find a provide a fun, goofy, adult-onesie pajama that they wore underneath.  So one had something like stars and planets and the other had something like cute animals.  The fact that they both wore ...

We're looking to do a student-led production of Christmas Carol as a fun fundraiser and additional performance opportunity for the kids. I'd love to find an adaptation that is written to be performed as a radio show or staged reading.  We want to put this together in two weeks with minimal sets, props, ...

Thank you all for the great information and tips.  I should clarify the vision/idea I am going for.   It won't be the gobo/bolt look.  It will come from "outside" or upstage of the windows.  The windows will have muslin screens to diffuse/block the light/views.  So I'm looking for that quick/bold/window ...

I'm looking to shoot realistic lightning behind the set (through the window).  I've never worked with this effect before, so am needing to find and use the necessary equipment. 1. Is this equipment something you typically buy and keep or just rent from a local supply house. I'm assuming renting ...

SMILE... by Howard Ashman and Marvin Hamlisch... lesser known and rarely done, but it's a good show and a GREAT show if you have a lot of girls you want to give opportunities to but few boys.  The support materials for the show are very poor; or at least they were six years ago when we did it.  That's ...

Clue, the play has a keyboard score that comes with the materials so you can have a keyboard underscoring the play.  They also have Stage Tracks (orchestration) available if you want a more fully orchestrated sound.   Has anyone directed a play with underscoring?  If so, what were the pros and cons ...

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and experiences.  It's a tricky deal for sure.  Like George said, a lot of links come up, but most end up being for standard drapes and not stage curtains, so the fire retardant, the size and weight, and the need to keep the color as much as possible are issues that ...

I had an unfortunate thing happen in the final dress of our last show with the end result being a decent amount of bright green paint on our rear black stage curtain. Has anyone had success removing paint like this themselves?   Has anyone used a traveling dry cleaner?   I've researched but ...

This is good to know on Super 77... I went to a workshop and the guy said that was his go to... interesting that you've had the opposite experience.   In my case I'm not stacking pieces but rather adhering them on edge.  I went with a Locktite product made for foam board.  I'll run a bead on the edges ...

Thank you everyone for your great insights.  I ordered a huge amount of foam sheeting yesterday.  The adventure begins on Monday.  Hopefully the learning curve isn't steep and all goes well.  Your thoughts and experience will help immensely. ------------------------------ Brett Buffum Theatre Teacher ...

I'm venturing into foam sheets for set pieces for the first time and have a couple of questions for those that have worked with it more.  I am not needing to glue/layer sheets on top of each other, but will be laying sheets out next to each other.  I will be securing them to existing wall units for ...
