Hello, all! My school is looking to purchase new seats for our theatre.  For many years (I've been here 23) we have had a stock of replacement seats for when some of them wore out, but that stock has been depleted and we have some seats in bad disrepair.  So, it is time to start a new!   I am looking ...

I am applying for rights to Newsies (all of the previous threads on it really helped me feel better about my decision) and I want to know, what sort of ticket prices have people used for streaming plays?  I can't find advice on that anywhere and the streaming services aren't very helpful with suggestions. ...

Spoon River Anthology or Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten (although that has scenes too) would be good ones to look into. -- Amy CraneDrama/Music/SpeechMarquette Catholic High SchoolMichigan City, IN

We are going to a 1to1 platform next year with iPads (yay?) and are being encouraged to ditch all textbooks for eBooks.   Does anyone currently use and/or have recommendations for good theatre arts and technical theatre eBooks that they use?? ------------------------------ Amy Crane Marquette ...

I've been researching some pictures of Pippin productions on-line while considering doing it at our school - I'm noticing what seem to be productions with multiple Leading Players. Has anyone ever split up this role? How did it work? I'm intrigued by the idea, but not sure it would work. -------- ...

We are looking to put in a projector and electronic retractable screen on our stage. My school is in Northwest Indiana, so I'm looking for companies in the Northern Indiana, Southern Michigan, and/or Chicagoland area that would be good for this. Anyone from around here dealt with any such companies that ...

Same sort of thing happens in Pippin (which we'll be doing in the spring)... If you put the character in black clothing and put black velcro on the back of their costume, you just need a knife handle that is thick enough to put enough velcro to stick it coming out of their back. Or you attach a ...

Since you are already considering a Christie - take a look at A Murder is Announced. We just produced it last year and it's a lot of fun! Several strong female leads, some great character roles and a good twist! -- Amy CraneDrama/Music/SpeechMarquette Catholic High SchoolMichigan City, IN

Have any of you produced an updated version of A Christmas Carol that you really loved the script for?? I know there are a lot out there, but I also know putting it out to the forum will whittle it down for me before I start reading scripts. This is a great show, you will have amazing fun with it!!! Simple creativity is the key! For the flying/burping - we had bubble machines, put the two characters on either ends of a teeter-totter and put really tight spotlights on just their faces. It worked amazingly well and was one of our audiences ...

I did Godspell around 10 years ago and am looking to do it again. However, I can't decide if I want to do the oirginal or the new 2012 version. Has anyone done a good comparison of the two?? I'd like to hear a compare and contrast discussion if possible. ------------------------------ Amy Crane Marquette ...

We used pickels. Still slimy, still got a good reaction from both audience and actors, but far less revolting to the actors. -- Amy CraneDrama/Music/SpeechMarquette Catholic High SchoolMichigan City, IN

In order to celebrate the 125 year anniversary for Agatha Christie I wanted to choose one of her plays to produce this year and I have fallen in love with "A Murder Is Announced." It's super fun and my students are loving it too. However, I CANNOT find anything to use for the two matching lamps of a ...

If you're looking for that same 80s vibe, but not as much controversial material, I recommend "Back to the 80s". It's a lot of fun to produce! It has lots of 80s nostalgia and very high school friendly. The song "Centerfold" is as scandalous as it gets and the way we presented it was pretty cheesy, so ...

I am doing Music Man as well!! We don't have a band and the one prospect we had for uniforms fell through. I have a very inventive costumer who plans on using chef coats that we found relatively cheap on-line that you can order in bulk. We're just going use gold paint, trim and epaulets. Hope that helps! ...

Try making a very WIDE staircase with ornate posts on the end. It doesn't have to be tall to be grand. Dry brush with gold and do a gold trim. Big angels perched on pedestals, or curve the edges of the stairs. There are other ways of making it ornate with only 4 or 5 steps. --------------------- ...

I have an allergy to make-up as well and wear cortaid underneath my make-up every day. When I still ocassionally act on stage, I just wear it a bit thicker. The biggest thing is DO NOT let them use any kind of wipes to get the makeup off. A sensitive face wash is the best plan there. Hope that helps! ...
