I am so excited to come to the conference. I have been teaching for 12 years, but this is my first National Conference. I am just really looking forward to finding some new things to incorporate into my classes so I can change it up a bit. I'm also really looking forward to being back in NYC since the ...

I am wanting to possibly do a mask unit with my students this year.  I'd like to do a presentation on the history of masks in the theatre/theatrical productions that use masks/etc...  Then have the students make their own masks and do some different acting exercises and performances using the masks. ...

I second the Periaktoi idea.  I have made several, some with luan faced flats and others with muslin faced flats.  Both were lightweight and easy to maneuver across the stage.  The nice thing with the periaktoi is you can line them up to be a long backdrop, or move them around the stage to show various ...

I have 7 plays published through Brooklyn Publishing and Heuer Publishing (Sister Companies).  It is easy to submit your work because it is all done online.  One of my plays has been very successful and has had over 150 performances in the past 3 years, the others have all had several, as well.  You ...

After seeing a couple different high school plays, in our town, I saw that many are doing messages in the playbill from the parents, family, or friends to the actors and technicians.  I really like the idea and the use of it as a fundraiser.  I have decided to do it in the programs for this year's productions. ...

I am needing to do instrument tracks for my musical this year.  I am trying to decide between using the Right on Cue Services Stage Tracks offered with my TRW license or the music from the MT Pit.  Based on my initial quotes, they are both very close in price.  So I was wondering if anyone out there ...

We do a one-act every year for competition and have had lots of success mainly because the one-acts I chose were well liked with great scripts.  Both the Greek Mythology Olympiaganza and the Brothers Grimm spectacularhon by Don Zolidis (available at Playscripts) are fun.  We took the Brothers Grimm to ...

This year my group did The True Stories of the So-Called Big Bad Wolves for our One-Act. You can find it through Heuer Publishing. The play has the Big Bad Wolves from Red Riding Hood, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, and The Three Little Pigs go on strike until they can tell their sides of the story. They each ...

We have been doing our version of the OSCAR awards for 6 years now. However, we call ours the "Gremies" since my last name is Gremel (it was decided by the students 6 years ago, when I took over the program) We offer awards for each level of drama and tech that is voted on by the students of that class. ...

I have spent the last few years with advanced drama classes that have an equal or close to equal number of males and females. Next year, however, I have only 3 males in my advanced drama class and 15-17 females. I am looking for a full length comedy with many female roles and very few, if any, male roles. ...

We switched from a block schedule to a regular schedule a few years back and have been running the regular schedule ever since. It was a little rough at first and I liked the longer times to get things done, but I started to see the advantage to meeting on a regular basis. Once the students and I got ...
