When we returned for the school year, our lighting system completely failed.  This system has been in the theater since it was built back in 1971, so it has to be completely redone.  The price is much more than our school system can handle.  They are being great and optimistic on making it happen, but ...

I recently started at a new high school and produced my first show, "The Curious Savage," this past November.  It went over very well.  I'd like to do another heartwarming comedy, but I'm not sure what else is out there.  I have a small cast size (8-12) with 3-4 boys and 6-7 females and will use doubling ...

We used a typical "doctor" bag. In it, we had a large handkerchief with dentistry items in it. The dentistry items really looked nice from the house Lots of hooks and sharp ends. Added a bit of blood to the handkerchief for effect. ------------------------------ Trevor Yarbrough Theatre Teacher ...

We are looking to get new furniture for our lobby.  What are your recommendations for this?  The furniture we have isn't old, but can't really be used.  It's like the chairs that are made to look at and not sit in, but we want people to feel comfortable sitting in them.  Thank you! ------------------------------ ...

I'm in need of play suggestions.  I feel I have gone through various scripting company and read various synopsis, but I feel like I am missing on some and would like suggestions if you have them.  Here are my requirements: There are two different ways I want to go: -I want a play that deals with ...

I would also like to echo The Marvelous Wonderettes.  We did it two years ago, and it was a huge success.  No males are needed, and the audience will love the music.  As stated above, there is a Christmas sequel that might fit your holiday needs. ------------------------------ Trevor Yarbrough Teacher ...

I wish I had 8-10 weeks for a show. Unfortunately, the timing at my school only allows 5-6 weeks for a production. I only have 4 weeks for our improv/comedy show. I typically run a 3 hour rehearsal on Mondays, Tuesday, and Thursdays with a 90 minute rehearsal thrown in on a Wednesday or Friday. We do ...

Thank you all for the quick responses and information. This is a top priority for next school year. As for why my district shut Remind101 down, we never received a clear response. We heard from some in our administration and a few others that it had to do with students changing numbers and the ...

What do you feel is the best way to communicate to your students? I've tried: *Remind101 - I enjoyed this, but our district shut it down and will no longer allow us to use this. *Facebook - Trying to get everyone to join the private group has proved to be a struggle. Most students cannot ...

I work at a small town high school. When I started at the high school, there was barely a drama club. For the past few years (and even when I went to that high school), teachers were forced to teach drama no one cared for it. A couple of years before I was hired, the choir teacher took over the club ...

We did this show two years ago. We used the alternate song, My Unfortunate Distraction. We slightly referenced the erection and kept it low key. It was a big hit and we heard no complaints. ------------------------------ Trevor Yarbrough Teacher Dyer County High School Newbern TN

We're doing FairyTale Courtroom this fall. In it, the dwarfs are called as witnesses. I'm trying to think of the best way to present the student as dwarfs. Any ideas? We've had so many discussions, but nothing seems to look or feel right. ------------------------------ Trevor Yarbrough Teacher ...

If you can or are willing to do a musical, I would HIGHLY suggest "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." There is a lot of room for improv there. Even get to pull audience members up on stage. Also, as was previously mentioned, "Murder in the House of Horrors" offers A LOT of improving. ----- ...

Thank you all for the tips and help. We usually print on our own (we do not have a printing club). I guess the biggest problem I have is that I have a drawing on a white background and I want to insert it it onto our pink paper without the white background. I can do video editing all day long, but I ...

How or where do you create your programs? Right now, I am using Adobe InDesign to create the program, but I'm not good with creating the name so it blend into the background rather than using a picture that has a white background and doesn't look appealing. Just thought I'd get some suggestions ...

I've cast a black male as Jonathon Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace. He had a great audition and is really the only one who can pull off the character. I'm been thinking on how to tie in the Boris Karloff look. Any thoughts or ideas? ------------------------------ Trevor Yarbrough Teacher Dyer ...

How do you go about creating a parent booster? Do you call this booster something special or charge (how much?) parents to be recognized as the boosters in the programs? I'm looking to get parents more involved and was wondering what other clubs do, Thanks! ------------------------------------------- ...

I'm looking for a drama that still has some comedy to it and has a large cast. My cast is primarily females and around 3-5 males. Any suggestions? ------------------------------------------- Trevor Yarbrough Teacher Dyer County High School Newbern TN ----------------------------------- ...
