I am having issues accessing the part of the website where I can update Thespian profiles. When I log in, I am not given Troupe Director access. Suggestions or help? ------------------------------ Georgann Lanich Lakemont GA ------------------------------

We have a shower curtain rod, the expandable spring loaded type, that we hang the rollers on after washing. They drip onto a tiled area that can be easily rinsed. Paint brushes are taken outside and the water slung out of them, then hung on long nails by size. Several brushes fit on one nail, so really ...

I recently did a murder mystery with a prop gun on stage and used a starter pistol for the sound effect. It all looked and sounded very real. I let my admin and security know ahead of time what the sound was, I locked up all prop guns when we were not performing and put a disclaimer in the program. I ...

Jennifer made a point that I feel is pretty important. After 20 years of teaching Visual Arts and now in my 4th year of theater, I have found the importance of following school policy. We all like to make exceptions, and in some rare cases I might, but I have learned to follow school policy. It avoids ...

I am glad you brought this up! We are a new troupe this year and we are still refining our process within the guidelines of ITS. Our troupe this year decided that our officers cannot be an officer in another school club. Our officers are very active with our group and just would not have time to divide ...

I agree with Heather. I really emphasize "excellent work" and sometimes that means something different student to student, school to school, etc. Our current system allows us to meet ITS standards, but be flexible to our situation. At my school, we award points only for audience performances, but it ...

Hi! We just did The Game's Afoot by Ken Ludwig. I love his shows and this was not disappointment. The audiences loved it and many of our students came each night, which has never happened before. As mentioned before, the set can be a bit complicated with a hidden room being revealed, but I would be more ...

We have added a couple of things that are easy to do and add to the total amount from a show. We try really hard to keep all activities focused on performance and performance arts. Here are our currrent successes; 1. Fan o' grams. I am sure this is an old idea and I don't even remember where I heard ...

Not sure if you would like this or not, but a few years back we did a One Act called The Field that was very well accepted and won our regional competition. It is two Vietnam soldiers in a mine field and the conversation they have as they work their way across it. The ending leaves you wondering how ...

This is really helpful! I have been at my current spot for 4 years and have struggled with the "just right' rehearsal schedule. It seems each show hits that place where it is ready and if we are in rehearsal much past that we lose some energy. And the kids get exhausted. I have considered a shorter run ...

Hi! We did this last year. Our theater is very small and of an age that prevents many special effects, but this one turned out great! Paul brought the red fire up from the "basement" in a small metal bucket that the audience could not see the inside of. Then he used a "match" to light it in the bucket. ...

Hi all! Is there a specfic way to log in as a troupe director? I have logged in but can't shop in the store for ITS items as it says I have to log in. Confused. Any help would be great! ------------------------------ Georgann Lanich Lakemont GA ------------------------------

I tried several things and I think I have a system that I like and that works for me. My students earn their grades through Participation (I have a scale for that), Notebook checks (having all the materials I have given them in order and ready to use), Rehearsals (extended class time) and Performances ...

Hi! We did this show this past Fall and we don't even have what you do! ha! We have a DJ type portable light set and used that on everything during the scene changes. I also used a dancer in an "aurora' costume to dance during the transitional music. It turned out great! Have fun...what a fun show! ...

We did this last year. For the red glow, we had Paul bring the "firework" up from the basement in a metal can. They gathered around it to see what it was and when Depinna turns the lights out, we had a headlamp in the bottom of the bowl that had a red light on it. They faked striking a match and hit ...

How about one of the scenes from Almost, Maine? We did that this year and there is some good stuff in there. You might have to cut, but I found the show very easy to work with in that aspect. Good luck! ------------------------------------------- Georgann Lanich Teacher Tallulah Falls School ...

Even though it has a Christmas theme, our group is doing The Game's Afoot this Spring. It would be great to have suggestions for a murder scene. The actress gets stabbed in the back (lights out, lights up, knife in back) and that is not the issue. She falls to the floor and another character has to pull ...

Hi! I was in the same position a couple of years back...pretty much exactly the same! The first show we did was Curious Savage and it was a big hit! The language is clever, stage time is pretty much equal and it has one set. We went all out on the set because it was built in and would be moved or changed, ...

This is a tough one! We have had a case of mono at the last minute and my actress still went on stage, but a student with recurring migraines had to be replaced. It is hard to call, but the health of the student is always first. To meet our needs, I try to avoid ambiguous expectations and keep the standard ...
