I played opposite my daughter as her father in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Whistle Down The Wind." A couple of pretty intense scenes.

dark pony by David Mamet. short/20 minute piece 2 person. A bit weighted to the father role, however. ------------------------------------------- Richard Silberg Berkeley CA -------------------------------------------

Just about half of Moliere's plays prominently feature a father/daughter relationship. In almost all cases, the father is trying to force the daughter into a marriage that benefits HIM in some way, rather than the man that she loves and actually wants to marry. These include:

    The Miser
    Tartuffe
    The Imaginary Invalid
The Doctor in Spite of Himself
    The Love Doctor
    The Bourgeois Gentleman
    The Flying Doctor
The Learned Ladies (This one features a father/daughter relationship, but it's the mother who is trying to force the bad marriage.)
The Precious Young Maidens (this one has the father trying to force a marriage, but the daughter's idea is no better than dad's, as she is gulled into falling for a flamboyant servant)

Several years ago I did "Cheaper by the Dozen". It's a great ensemble piece, but some significant interaction between father and eldest daughter.

I've always been partial to Diary of Anne Frank. Some really touching scenes after the fights with Mrs. Frank

King Lear and Cordelia, nearer the end of the play 'King Lear'? That's easy, right?

    Tough question!

There's an beautifully awkward segment in Peter Shaffer's 'Black Comedy', but there might be other characters in it too. Could always amend it.

What's the purpose? You need comedy, or drama?

I don't think anyone mentioned David Auburn's 'Proof', deals with mental illness/deceased father, but I believe there are father/daughter scenes in there...

    Good luck!
