  • 1.  One Act w/5 Females

    Posted 09-23-2015 10:39

My Drama III course has only 5 females and they would like to perform a comedy.  I can't seem to find a one-act that fits my needs!  Any ideas for shows or monologue collections?  I have a very strong group of actors!

    Thank You,

    Kayla Wilson

"The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds" I believe is 5 females. Good play.

"Gamma Rays" is not a comedy and is a full length play.

All my suggestions fail to line up with at least one of your criteria, but I thought I'd throw them out here anyway. Only suggesting shows I've actually done myself.

Someone has already mentioned ...Gamma Rays... which has five girls but isn't a comedy, though it does have some moments. It's not a one-act, but it is relatively short.

There's an allegorical one-act called Lepers that we've had a lot of success with. Five girls. But not a comedy.

One of my favorite shows is The Real Queen of Hearts Ain't Even Pretty, which is both hilarious and meaningful, but has only four girls (maybe one can stage manage?) and isn't a one-act but can be cut down if necessary.

You might not be able to use these, but maybe they'll point you in a direction...? Break a leg!

    Hi there,

There is a great new play by New York Playwright Robin Rice Lichtig called 'Everyday Edna Mae'. It has 5 female characters and lots of fun!

Best of luck with your search!

Talking With by Jane Martin is a great monologue show with lots of selection both humorous and serious.

    For 5 women.

A nice one-act mystery is "The New Margo" which you can find in an old Dramatics!!

"The Dixie Swim Club" is comedy with pathos, but not a one act.

A short musical comedy " A- My Name is Alice"
