    Hello,

I'm wondering if someone here could offer some recommendations on where to order large fabrics for shows, pieces that could stretch across a whole stage to become a river or hang to become large sails etc.

    Thanks very much,

Most people go with Rosebrand but I prefer the pricing of Chicago Canvas. Chicagocanvas.com

I recently did a LOT of looking around for the best prices on a large fabric order. The best deal I found was at Warehouse Fabrics, which has since changed its name but not its prices or huge selection.

Fun aside: Only after I started placing the order did I realize the warehouse was right here in my own town.

I am Blessed to have SAS Fabrics and Crafts in Phoenix (90 miles south of my town).  I have also visited other uphostery wholesale stores in the Southwest.  Rosebrand is my go to vendor if I must have something specific, special or "theatrical"

    Good afternoon,

RoseBrand is the most popular. Chicago Canvas is  really good to del with and cheaper in many cases.

Nationally in the US I'd say Rose Brand, in California 1.800.360.5056, or rosebrand.com. They list a Toronto outlet in the catalog, but without contact info. Try the website.

Another great supplier in Northern California is Musson Theatrical  at musson.com.

There must be thearical suppliers closer to home.

And, you are not really talking about large fabrics. You can make a river with a single width of 36-60" china silk (or poly silk substitute) from a local fabric store. Large sails were made from widths stitched together, so depending on the actual size and use you have in mind, you might choose the same stuff from the fabric store and, if not wide enough, find someone to sew widths for you. One value of Rose Brand or Musson might be that they will listen to your non-professional description of what you want to do, then give you specific product advice. They have seen what you have seen and want to do. Just ask.
