    I have an IB student who is considering writing his extended essay on American plays that center around the idea of 'finding oneself/discovering purpose'. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?  Thanks so much!

    Judith Guests Ordinary People (adapted by Nancy Gilsenan) comes to mind from Dramatic Publishing. If they can include musicals, Pippin is perfect.

    We paired Anon(ymous) and Still Life With Iris one year with the theme of finding oneself. They're both great plays and well worth a read. Since you're already a fan of Lauren Gunderson, I could also make an argument for Silent Sky.

    These three share the trait of having been adapted for the stage from great American novels: The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers, All the Way Home by Tad Mosel, and Look Homeward, Angel by Ketti Frings.
