Parent Messages in the Program

After seeing a couple different high school plays, in our town, I saw that many are doing messages in the playbill from the parents, family, or friends to the actors and technicians.  I really like the idea and the use of it as a fundraiser.  I have decided to do it in the programs for this year's productions.  All the ones I have seen call them "Well Wishes", but do any of you do them and call it something different or have a different idea for what to call them?  I like the idea of the messages, but I don't really like the title "Well Wishes".

    We call ours "Shout Outs".

They are a great way to generate extra funds for the production.

I help out with publicity/graphic design for a few teacher friends (including my mother, @Jasmine Bucher!), and I've seen "Shout Outs," "Spotlights," "Music Grams, "Well Wishes," and for one production of The Sound of Music, "Yodels." I also know a friend who did "Arias" for The Phantom of the Opera!

It's something that many schools do as a fundraiser opportunity, and it's a great way to give love to students, staff, and community members who donate their time and talents.

How much do you charge?  It sounds like a great fundraiser!!

We call it "Fan Mail." At concessions there is also the opportunity to send a candygram.

We call them Bravo ads and charge $20 for each one with the money going to our program. We have a parent that coordinates them. We provide a variety of graphic choices (umbrellas for Mary Poppins, etc.) that are related to the particular show, which the parents can choose from and just add their message to.

What is the deadline for parents to submit so that you can organize your program in a timely manner?

We do two options.  The inexpensive option we call "Happy Grams" (though I'm not sure that I'm in love with the name) that are limited character messages (as a tweet would be).  We sell those to parents but also to the student body in the cafeteria as a way to give a shout out to friends in the cast.  But of course the other option is that parents are free to buy business card, quarter-page, half-page, or full-page ads at the same rate we charge businesses for advertising.
