Thanks to all who've replied so far. I appreciate your interest and your thoughts.
We're just now beginning to talk about this, so there's a lot of work to do in the next year or so, including research on similar programs, costs, and so on -- assuming the college even buys into it.
I picked this particular college for a few reasons, besides that I've worked with them and am very impressed with their programs. They have a top-of-the-line facility, especially in the area of lighting design, and a number of their students have gone on to professional careers on stage or behind it. Also, the professors all have solid experience in professional theatre and have won awards in their own specialties. And, they're all very nice people and a pleasure to work with.
I don't want to mention the college's name just in case they decide not to go for this; they have a lot of things to consider too, and it's not fair to put them on the spot. But I'll keep you posted. If this workshop flies, it's conceivable that it could be held in other venues in the future.
In the meantime, if any of you have any thoughts as to what you'd like to see covered, please let us know.

Subject: Question: Any interest in a summer tech theatre camp for teachers?
Hi, all,
I've been talking with a local college that has an award-winning theatre program about the possibility and interest in maybe doing a one-week intensive summer tech theatre camp for drama teachers, covering sets, lights, costumes, props, and other areas. The workshop would provide a solid introduction to both the design aspects and the execution, as well as areas like scheduling, budgeting, safety, and so forth. Right now I'm thinking it would start with a round-table discussion of tech theatre in high schools: the challenges, needs, realities, and other issues. The workshop, if it comes to pass, would probably be in '17, and the college is in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Do you think there would be any interest in something like this? Any thoughts? Thanks much.
