Yes. We purposely used YouTube Live because you can disable the chat feature, which to me is essential to keep any negative comments from being spoken, but also because live theatre is about being present in that space for two hours or so and giving your undivided attention to the performers. Having the chat enabled just encourages people to want to communicate during the viewing of the stream and that is doing a disservice to the current moment and young artist who is on the screen at the time.
I would stream the play separately and then have a Zoom talk back after the play has completed. You can record the Zoom talkback and then upload it to youtube afterwards.

We will be streaming our production at the end of May and probably on YouTube. Do you (or anyone else) have any advice about keeping the comments on or off or using the live chat feature? We usually have very robust talk-backs after our live productions that both our cast and audience looks forward to. I am looking for a way to have that experience virtually.

The Show Must & Will Go On!
On May 15th & 16th at 7 pm, the Academy of Performing Arts at Burlington County Institute of Technology - Medford Campus will stream on YouTube Live "10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine," a play specifically written by Don Zolidis to be performed in an online virtual setting. The play will be delivered in two parts with Act One being streamed on Friday, May 15th, and Act Two being streamed on Saturday, May 16th. This has been a wonderful opportunity to bring some normalcy back to our kids. No auditions - whoever wanted a part was cast in the show. If anybody has any questions concerning this process, I would be more than happy to explain how we handled putting this show up, just let me get through the weekend as I had to learn a whole new string of things including how to stream events online.
