Hello all ! I just heard about ITS and I was wondering if anyone can explain the point system (how it works and how you get points) and what it means to be inducted and why its important to me as a High School freshmen? Thanks in advance.

I think the great thing about becoming a thespian is that you can put that on any resume or college application and it shows that you don't just attend school but you participate in activities beyond the regular curriculum. ITS also has tons of ways for you to get where on the web. Your school has to have a Thespian troupe in order for you to collect points.

Thank you all for your replies. My school does have ITS as a program however we do not start school for another 2 weeks. I just wanted to do some research on how points are earned. I know that 50% of your first 10 points can be earned out side of school. I was just cast in Sweeney Todd teen at a community theater so I was wonder how that would work. Thank you again in advance.

We're glad to hear you're interested in ITS! Here is a link to the Official Thespian Point System - our recommended guidelines for troupes. We have some basic policies (a minimum of 10 points must be earned to be inducted, up to half of those points can come from outside school, etc.) but we understand that each school/troupe is different and encourage troupe directors to customize the point system to fit their troupe's needs. After you read the original document, check with your school's troupe director to what/if any changes s/he may have made to the system, and if the troupe has a constitution you can peruse, so you know what to expect!
