    Does anyone have an outline of units or complete curriculum for a middle school theatre history class that they could share with me?

    This is taught grades 9-12.  Take what pleases you.  My course lasts nine weeks.

    The curriculum I taught at the middle level focused on stage development.  I was able to focus on history at a simpler level and choose plays that were not as difficult as some on this list.  I also had a little unit where they modernized Shakespeare and at the end groups developed their own sketches (using improv and writing). Kids rotated through a nine week course, I believe.

    I had a 4 semester rotating unit for middle school.  Well, after my 1 semester intro class, which included pretty much 0 theatre history...

     Year 1, semester 1:  Improv, Greeks (we did mythology and puppet shows), Shakespeare

    Year 1 semester 2:  Melodrama, Modern day acting techniques (Stanislavksi et al), write and produce our own play

     Year 2 semester 1: Improv, silent film, radio plays

    Year 2 semester 1:  Musical theatre, puppetry, write and produce our own play
