    Since I'm a new director from a small school and cannot afford to pay a royalty on Beatles music, please tell me what you have used in the past that is free or very cheap for "John Lennona and Me." Thanks.

    Your school (or district) may already pay for a general license. If they play music at sports events, then they probably do.  You may not need your own separate license as you would be covered by that one. Music specifically created for a production is, I suppose, different.
