    Hi,
Sent this on Friday evening but do not see it posted-- so am trying again.
Looking for a rental of Bottom's donkey head for our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, November 20 and 21. Would need it for 10 days including show dates.  Souhegan High School, Amherst, NH 03031.  Steve Hodgman, Director

I don't know of any specific place to rent the donkey head, but according to the play survey, it's one of the top full length productions for high schools, which means you could probably find some good options by reaching out to other local high schools and community theatres.

If that's doesn't pan out, you could definitely make it. I've seen this done as simply as a pair of donkey ears attached to a headband. OR Amazon has a bunch of affordable options. Good luck, let us know what you find!

Here's where I got mine.  It's fabric, and much less bulky, but looked really cool on stage.

I have one that I can send to you.

    My e-mail is khayes@mvcds.org

We used this in our MSND production three years ago. Comfortable and good view for the actor wearing it.  It is a half mask so projection is not hindered.

I made a skull-cap and added ears using a thermoplastic covered with an old mink coat I had in my costume collection. It pulled over the head but the face was uncovered. I used "Billy-Bob Teeth" to add to the effect.

We used one of those weird, freaky looking latex horse heads. We packed it full of paper, jerry-rigged a strap for it, and it worked really well.

I have one I made cast in neoprene that is two parts so you have an articulated jaw. I've loaned it out for several productions. Let me know if you'd like to see pics.

    Hi Kevin,

I just sent you an email but wanted to reach out here as well.  We are doing a production of MSND and are looking for a donkey head.  Is yours still available to rent and/or borrow?  We are in Montclair NJ?

    Thanks

When we did it years ago, I made one out of a decommissioned football helmet, half a milk jug, a simply orange bottle, and some foam (and fabric lol). It worked pretty well.
