I am looking to produce a spring play. I would like it to be set in the future, maybe involve outer space or something, basically a time and place that can justify the masks.

Thinking like Tron or Starlight Express in style and concept.

Cast of about 15-18 (mix of male/female)

Not concerned about drama or comedy, but I do want quality writing and well defined characters. Not anything too silly and ridiculous.

Anyone have any ideas?   Please let me know.

    Thanks

There is a version of The Martian Chronicles out there that might fit the bill. RUR by Karen Capek could be adapted with masks.. the tricky part that I found was that most space players have fewer characters. Solaris was terrific but had a smaller class. We ended up writing our own film, not set in space, and using the theme of communication, included lots of letters and phone calls. We filmed around the school, with individual students on camera at any moment so they could remove a mask. Worked out fine, though we are not done editing yet!
    Good luck.
