Kind of slap stick like Noises off ( without all the sex :) 

I'm looking for something that the kids can relate to AND will draw an audience .

Probably more females than males .. but that's not a huge deal

I simply love the 3 playwrights who wrote Hallelujah Girls and Dearly Beloved. My students absolutely LOVED acting those 2 plays and the audience loved them too. They are sold through Dramatist.

I will always recommend Arsenic and Old Lace to a high school troupe that wants to sell tickets, teach students to act, and make their audience laugh out loud- literally!

We also did well with the abridged A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Do you have set limitations to take into account? If not I'd look at Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 by John Bishop. It is set in the 1940's but was one of my favorite comedies I've produced to date. You could also look at Happily Ever Once Upon by Virginia Kidd.
