I'm exploring comedy/farce/murder-mystery scripts for our fall show in Alameda, CA and The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 caught my eye. Seems to have some great comedic potential and fun characters to bite into. I also have some concerns about it being a bit outdated / offensive (murdered chorus girls, stereotypical accents, etc...) Anyone have experiences to share from directing/working on this show? Things to keep in mind / directorial tips? How it went over in your community? Other preferred shows in the genre you'd recommend instead (especially anything more recent/relevant and/or by BIPOC playwrights?) Thanks!
