Bio

Janie was inducted into the International Thespian Society in 1998 and proudly served as the President of troupe #888 in Shawnee, KS. Janie studied musical theatre and gender studies at Illinois Wesleyan University. A New Yorker for the past 20 years, Janie started her career as an actor and director, performing in 2 Broadway national tours and directing at many regional theatres. She transitioned to a career as a theatre and dance teacher 15 years ago, working in several New York City-area schools as a teacher and an administrator. She graduated from City College with her MSEd in Educational Theatre and moved into a career as an arts administrator for nonprofit arts education organizations including the National Theatre in London, Arthur Miller Foundation, St. Nicks Alliance, and the New York City Public Schools Arts Office. Janie is delighted to serve as the Director of the Educational Theatre Foundation, helping to increase access and support for quality theatre education nationwide. Janie is also a proud public school parent, raising tiny theatre kids!
