  • 1.  What to the cord colors mean?

    Hey guys,

I'm at a new school this year so I'm setting everything up for our my first induction and graduation season there. I noticed that there are 3 color options in the store for honor cords, and 2 color options for scholar thespians. I'm wondering if this is new and how you choose which one to use. In my new school, we also have Quill & Scroll, which also uses Royal Blue and Gold, which is what got me started looking into this.

Edit: I found a thread from 2015 where it was explained that multiple options were given to help with situations where certain colors were reserved for school colors, other clubs, etc. I'm still interested to know which color option you use at your school and why.

I also see that the Thespian Blue color in the new style guides is really closer to navy blue than royal blue...will the honor cord color be changed at some point to reflect this darker color? This would fix the overlap with Quill and Scroll, but might create other overlap issues.

    Interested to hear your thoughts!

My troupe uses the royal blue and gold.  These same colors are used by several other groups, most notably the National Honor Society.  To differentiate ours, before I give them to our seniors, I twine one cord around the other, creating a spiral effect, and then tie them off at each end.  This way, even if they're the same colors as other groups' cords, they look a little different from them - at least, up close.

We use the royal blue cords for Thespian Graduates. We now claim those cords and no one else should be using royal blue at our graduation. I originally used the gold and blue cords but then found from a distance they can get confused with the National Honor Society cords which are just the gold color. Royal blue also has the advantage of being my favorite color.
