    Theatrical Quotes for the Win!

Looking for something fast and fun idea to fill up an area in your classroom, hallway bulletin board or spotlight space in your school?  Theatrical quotes are a great way to allow students to explore some ideas shared by famous actors, playwrights, world leaders, philosophers are more!  There are so many creative ways to use theatrical quotes in your work with students:

    • Use a quote as a prompt for a drama class journal entry
    • Use a quote to stimulate a short conversation with students following warm ups once a week.
    • Post a "quote of the week" in a classroom or hallway space with room for post it notes for students to reflect and post their thoughts.
    • Use quotes on a school spotlight bulletin board for THEATRE IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH
    • Challenge students to find their own quotes and bring them to share.

One of my favorite quotes is by Oscar Wilde, "I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being."  This can prompt a wonderful discussion about what this "really" means about the power of theatre and the work that students are doing.

A fun quote for a discussion about whether you AGREE or DISAGREE is, "Theatre is life, film is art, television is furniture."
