  • 1.  Voice Change for a Single Mic Line

Aloha! I am attempting to alter one voice using one microphone on my soundboard without changing all other voices. Does anyone know of a program/app that will allow me to do that? Has anyone had success changing only one character's voice during a live production? I've done recordings and played those as tracks before but I want the actor to be able to perform it live with his own voice...well, modified. :-)

    Mahalo.

The important question is: what kind of board do you have?

My sounds board is a PreSonus (see attached picture). My school is in the market for a new board, however.

The StudioLive 32 has multiple digital effects available onboard.  You'll have to find documentation or videos for instructions on using them.

The controlbooth message board is also a wealth of information around things like this.

That's entirely dependent on what kind of board you have, and exactly the effect you're looking for.  If you have a digital console, there are likely all kinds of effects available within the console, and you may or may not be able to load additional external effects. If you have an analog console, it's a bit trickier.   You would need to feed an external effects unit of some sort, and then send its return back into the console.  Any more of an answer would require more specifics.

    Hope that helps.
