Th BACKstage+ Grant is designed to be a funding opportunity from USITT that empowers secondary school theatre educators to enhance their professional practice and bring richer learning experiences to their students. Applicants do not need to belong to USITT.
BACKstage+ covers up to 100% of eligible expenses up to $500, allowing educators to focus on what matters most: elevating student learning through theatre. Application window closes Apr. 23, 2026.
Grant funds can be used for:
Conference, Workshop, or Professional Development Registrations
Travel/housing expenses for conference or workshop
Supplies for a student training workshop
Professional development training for educators
Rental or licensing fees for tech software and/or updates
Purchasing equipment to be used in theatre instruction or production
