  • 1.  Theatre of the Oppressed - Devised Theatre?

Asking those with more Theatre of the Oppressed and/or Devised Theatre knowledge than I: Would you consider Augusto Boal's Newspaper Theatre a form of Devised Theatre?  Why or why not?

Yes, I consider it devised theatre from primary source material. While you are working with verbatim text, the fact that it must be curated/created into script form and staged, I would still consider it a form of devising. I have Living Newspaper curriculum if you wanna take a look?

I had the privilege of studying with Boal in Santa Barbara, CA. We were encouraged to create devised theatre. I include  Boal in curriculum suggestions in my text book for high school. RAISING THE CURTAIN. --
