Fall production: Little Mermaid jr. (class show)

Winter production:  Night of one acts - Surprise, Sad and Gad (from Almost, Maine), Kiss & Any Body for Tea?  - I wanted to call the evening 4 Play because it is 4 plays about the beginning of relationships but. my principal thought it was "not appropriate for High School" Any thoughts on how to rename?

Spring production: Top contenders - Curtains, Wonderful Town, Me & My Girl, and Into the Woods

Our mainstage season includes our fall play Make 'Em Laugh by Jason Odell Williams & our spring musical is Come From Away.

We are looking forward to highlighting our class shows as well and student directors will have a chance to choose those productions once our school year is underway.

    Hello Everyone!

I coach middle school theater and high school large group and individual speech. My middle school students are performing The Black Pearl for our fall show. I write the scripts myself and this one is based on Treasure Island and Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson.

We'll be performing cuttings from classic plays such as Our Town for our winter showcase. I'm still undecided on our spring one act. Our high school troupe is performing Frozen for our fall musical. I hope to write an adaptation of Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys for our reader's theatre (with the author's consent) and I'm still deciding on our ensemble acting pieces.

My husband and I are in the process of writing our Fall play, as we have done the past two years. It will be fairy tale based, sort of a film noir spoof. No title yet. In the Spring, we do a variety show in our cafeteria with our music department, featuring one or two student written one acts, improv games, musical performances, and comedic interjections from our host. Budget and stage time are huge issues in our district. Our stage is in the gym, and it's nearly impossible to get adequate stage time to rehearse.

I only do one show a year because I pull students from seven area high schools and try not to overlap their fall and spring shows. It's not a musical year, and my seniors have requested something historical and maybe dark/scary (not my wheelhouse!). My current shortlist is:

    Queens

    Frankenstein's Mary Shelley

    Theatrefolk's Dracula

    The Book Women

    Antigone in Munich

If you've seen, produced, or worked on any of these titles, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
