    Hi all!

I am looking to get two-way radios for my High School program. I want them to have ear pieces and mics, but not cover the ears. Obviously, cheaper is better, but quality is important.

Help? I just can't seem to quite find what I am looking for on Amazon.

You want to get a ClearCom or EarTec system. Those are the two manufacturers we recommend. Both offer a variety of headsets and system layouts. Your local AV vendor can help you find what's needed for your space, and what is needed for emergency communications by your local Authority Having Jurisdiction.

Two way radios are a poor solution.  Intercom is a basic piece of theatre equipment and really a safety item.  Take a look at Pro Intercom for affordable and rugged wired intercom.  For wireless, about the only real affordable option out there is Eartec.  They also have a box that you can use to interface their wireless headsets with any 3 or 4 wire wired system as well.

Agreed! – headsets are a safety/liability issue, and a fundamental component of any theatre's operations.

While I can't recommend any one brand, for anyone thinking about installing or upgrading a headset system, I've attached a complimentary copy of the Headset chapter from my book, High School Theatre Operations.
