    Hello -

My advanced students have expressed a desire to do shakespeare next year - but I've got an idea stuck in my head that I want to work through: What do you think would be the best Shakespeare play to set in the world of Pirates in the early to mid 1700's. Thinking more in the Bahamas/ Jamaica but open to anything. Looking for something a bit more lighthearted and fun where we could add crowds, ensemble, music, etc. Thanks theater hive-mind!

I think all of the plays that involve seafaring and shipwrecks are in play here, like The Tempest, Twelfth Night, and Comedy of Errors. However, my brain keeps coming back to As You Like It. Why run off to the forest when you can run n off to the sea? Maybe the good duke's merry band could be pirates? Rosalind and Celia disguise themselves as sailors or pirates? Just spitballing here.

Othello comes to my mind at first. That could be a really fun location!
