Hello everyone! Our school theatre program in Knoxville, TN is preparing to produce The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe this fall, and we are currently searching for options for portraying Aslan.

We would love recommendations for:

• Companies or individuals who rent large lion puppets/costumes
• Puppet makers who might take commissions
• Schools or theatres that have done the show and would be willing to share advice or resources

We are especially interested in something with a strong theatrical/puppet aesthetic rather than a traditional mascot-style costume. Our performances are November 5–7, so we still have some planning time.

If anyone has leads, photos, past experiences, or contacts, I would be so grateful! Thank you so much for any help you can offer.

Hi, Allison- I've done some puppet coaching work with the wonderful folks at Children's Theatre of Cincinnati and they had a MARVELOUS Aslan puppet created by my friend Kevin Frisch (Frisch Marionettes). They (CTC) do rental sometimes! Perhaps reach out to them as it's only 3.5 hrs and you'd be able to drive not ship?  https://thechildrenstheatre.com/

Not sure if you'll be at International Thespian Festival this summer? If so, I'll be teaching puppetry sessions once again and would of course be happy to meet for a cuppa and talk puppetry techniques if needed. I'm also only 3 hrs away from Knoxville here in ATL!
