I am considering the stage adaptation of Picnic at Hanging Rock by Laura Anawyn Shamas for our Spring drama. I have a large percentage of great actresses and we are all itching to do something a bit more serious after a long string of comic and serio-comic pieces. I'm quite familiar with the Peter Weir film.
Does anyone have experience producing this show at the high school level? What was the experience like? Does anyone have a video of their production that they're willing to share? Dramatists Play Service lists it as appropriate for High School, but I'm also wondering if there is any content that might be objectionable to a somewhat more conservative school. Any experience you've had with this piece will be great.
