Check out the thousands of offerings from Pioneer Drama Services (Pioneer Drama is the Premier Publisher of Plays and Musicals for Schools, Churches, and Community Theaters).  They literally have thousands of shows available.  The site is easy to search with clear descriptions and they even have musicals.  The plays are not only highly engaging for students and audiences, but they aren't expensive to purchase scripts or royalties.  One other bonus is that they are VERY EASY to get ahold of if you have questions.  You can reach out if you need to make changes to scripts (we needed to remove the reference to a gun and they responded with approval in less than an hour).  They have a top notch quality product and top notch customer service.  We don't really bother searching through other services for our troupe anymore since they have such a good variety and selection.

    Happy Hunting,
    Amy

    Also, check out Heuer Publishing.

Like Pioneer, Heuer allows you to limit your search to middle school-appropriate plays in the genre(s), length, and M/F cast distribution that suits your needs.  And the script preview allows you to read enough of the play online to get an idea if you like the writing.

If I remember correctly, there are two versions of I Never Saw Another Butterfly.  One is 90+ minutes and I think the other 9s 30 minutes. you can do cuttings, with permission, I have done cuttings of Piece of My Heart and Laramie Project. All three have more women than men.
