  • 1.  One Act Play with flashbacks/flashforwards

    Hi there!

A few years back, I directed Ed Monk's "Booby Trap." I loved how the story was told in present time, but also incorporated flashbacks (and some flashforwards), often time pivoting on the main actor's thoughts/words and moving swiftly from flashback to present. Looking to do another one act drama for high school with that same setup of moving through time. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Two plays immediately popped into my mind.  Ed Monk also wrote a play, "At the Bottom of Lake Missoula" that bends time.  It tells the story of a college student who loses her family to a tornado.

The other play is by Jean Lenox Toddie, "White Room of My Remembering" is about a woman who returns home from the big city to sell her family farm after her parents pass away.

Maybe check out "The Hauntings at Cedar Park" by Del Martin (Stage Partners), which takes place in two time periods. "The Stowaway" (also with Stage Partners) also plays with time. Both are one-act dramas.

    HI

Another great script is Do Not Go Gentle  by Susan Zeder - it does not go forward in time but it does go backward. It is a story of family and seeing things from different perspectives.  I love this show.

The Long View might work: https://www.playscripts.com/play/1795

It shows parts of students lives from the past present and future.
