I hope this isn't too radical of an idea, but you might want to consider just choosing a musical that you really want to do, and will appeal to everyone, and simply cast it according to ability and not background. I teach in an incredibly diverse community (over 30 languages spoken) and I cast whoever is best for the part regardless.

Subject: Musicals for everyone
Hi all!
I am looking for a Musical for a diverse school that struggles to represent its diversity onstage. Pre Covid we successfully staged Hairspray. Since then, representation and interest have waned. I'm looking for a show with several opportunities for students regardless of background. Large pit is a must, too. Am I describing the ideal Musical for all of us, right? :) TIA.
