Considering musical for our middle school. It's so hard to find something with good comfortable dialogue and not cheese. Does anyone have experience with either of these: "The Adventures of Captain Starblaster" or "Wagon Wheels West?" Would love your thoughts.

    Marika,

I directed Wagon Wheels West in April 2000, so it has been quite a while ago.  However, I do remember that it was well received, and the cast enjoyed performing it.  In fact, we performed some of the songs for a Special Needs audience, and the cast was surprised at how well and how much that audience responded to the songs. Also, it is a large cast as there are 26 named characters. plus the pupils and citizens.  We are a small rural school, but we pulled it off.  All in all, I would recommend Wagon Wheels West as it is a fun show for both the cast ad the audience.
