    Hi all,

    I’m looking for some new songs for warm ups and silent scenes. What are your favs?

    Here are some of mine:

    Spiegel im Spiegel
    Simple Gifts
    Water Music - Handel
    Entelodon -Paleowolf
    Techno - Cali Crazed
    Fight song/amazing grace- The Piano guys (love the piano guys in general)
    Poker face - vitamin string quartet (love vitamin string quartet)

    Here are a couple of songs with words that I love to play at the start or end of class:

    One of my favorites (and a favorite of my students) was Planet Drum, a world music album by Mickey Hart, a musicologist who was also the drummer in the Grateful Dead. The 1991 album won a Grammy and is still available. We mostly used Plant Drum for warmups and constructive rest.

    Listen to the soundtrack of the movie The Straight Story (1999), composed by Angelo Badalamenti.  The lack of dynamics and big rhythm changes makes it perfect for certain activities. 

    I never had a student identify it, which is good if you don't want students to bring specific past memories associated with a piece of music to the work.
