  • 1.  Great New Play - Alabama Story

    I recently discovered a great new play, Alabama Story, by Kenneth Jones. It was just published by Dramatists (now Broadway Licensing). It involves censoring a children's book called The Rabbits' Wedding (a story of a marriage between a black and a white rabbit - you can imagine the "fireworks"). The play, a true story, is a clash between a Southern white politician and a Southern white state librarian. This is a very timely play in which censorship of books and racism intersect.     I hope to direct this play next season at our community theatre here in Eugene, Oregon.

    I costumed this lovely play for a local theatre in 2018.  Since there is a surge of book banning right now, the play should resonate even more than it did four years ago.
