  • 1.  Good drama for next Fall

    Posted 5 days ago

    Hello Everyone,

It's that time of year again.....the search for next year.  We had a busy year this past one, producing both CLUE and SPAMALOT.

I am looking for a meaty drama with a cast of about 15.  I will have 11 girls and 4 boys in my advanced production class and all are strong actors.  I have RADIUM GIRLS on the list already along with some others but looking for more.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    John

Queens might be worth a look. It has at least 6 great roles for grils and 2 for boys. It also has a chorus so the cast size is flexible, and the chorus has a fair amount to do. There's lots of opportunity for adding movement pieces to the play. We did the one act version a year ago and the cast loved it!

I highly recommend "Letters to Sala" by Arlene Hutton. It fits your casting needs perfectly. The play is a moving, beautifully written script based on the true story of a woman who was forced into labor camps during WWII. As an adult, she had kept her experiences from her family until they are given a box with letters that she'd received during her time in the camps. The play takes place both today, with the revelation of the letters creating tension in the family,  and in the past, when we see the young Sala finding and losing friends in the camps. The playwright is accessible and happy to help with the production.
