Hello everyone,

In my performance space the audience is raked, so it looks down on the stage area. The floor has been painted black. The issue I'm having is that the glow tape we use to spike furniture placement is really noticeable when looking down on the stage. I'm guessing that the best option would be to paint the stage floor something that will make the glow tape less noticeable when the stage lights are up, but if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. Any glow tape alternatives? Something clear / transparent?

this is a tough one, what about smaller pieces and have the performers do glow tape practice. anything for marking seen in the dark can illuminate and be seen.

If anything applied to the floor with depth will create a trip hazard.

Possibly cardboard box(like a Christmas shirt box, cut a side bottom very low profile to hide from the audience) with glow tape on the stage facing L , that way if stepped on would not trip.

Creative set design to use the back of scenery/set pieces with glow tape on them.

It is the nature of the beast. Unless you are using 3 inch long strips, audiences are used to seeing things spiked out. Use smaller pieces and if you are worried about telling one spiked thing from another, I use a sharpie and draw patterns on the pieces of glow tape to indicate which scene something might be--the bedroom all has stripes on pieces, the office all has dots, etc.
