Good Morning! Our district has hired a new 2nd - 5th grade theatre/dance teacher and I'm looking for some theatre/creative movement-dance resources. I've looked at the theatrefolk drama teaching academy and the other drama teaching academy. I've heard good things about both for middle and high and that's what they seem geared to. Has anyone found this kind of approach to teaching elementary theatre? Other elementary resources? I have a lot, but I'd love to find something that's organized.

    Thank you - Jane

    Hi Jane,

I've always been a fan of Viola Spolin's work. She has several books, including Theater Games for the Classroom: A Teacher's Handbook . This book is fairly comprehensive and includes a variety of ages from small kids to young adults.

    Hope this is helpful.

    Best,
    Rebecca~

    Jane,

This packet of 15 lesson plans is a great starting point! Also some courses / more lesson plans here.

I recommend my book RAISING THE CURTAIN published by perfectionlearning.com. It contains drama experiences which can be adapted for any age. I have used it when I am a teaching artist with K-6, 7-8, 9-12.

Hey! I teach Elementary (1-6) Drama exclusively and have a ton of resources. DramaNotebook.com is great for elementary geared things. Feel free to reach out to me and I can help them!
