Asking for expert advice- the Ojai earthquake happened 10 minutes before we had our final performance of Shrek JR with 2( kids ages 6-16. Our tech director was attending that day- we got the cast outside in a safe area. Only one pin light fell and create plaster dust. The cast and audience decided to go on (after we ja assessed the building's safety and rebooting our light system.
I am now pushing for protocols for actors who are on stage during an earthquake. Can find numerous districts and Red Cross recs for audiences. Can't find protocols for protecting actors from potential falling lights, set pieces, etc.
I was in the audiences of NEWSIES a pro touring production at L.A's Pantages when a siren like effect and the announcement "Actors, clear the stage immediately." Audience waited patiently while crew came onstage and fixed the rotating towers, then the production continued.
If anyone has sources about earthquake/danger to actors, please send to me. I appreciate any info
