    Hello,
I have a student who would like to do Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog as a student-directed one act. I know it has been staged in the past, but I cannot seem to find information on obtaining the rights. The link through MTI's page takes me to a broken site to which I can't seem to connect from any of my devices. Has anyone staged this show in the past? Who did you go through to secure rights? Thank you for any help you can provide.

    I did find this online

In 2011, all rights to perform Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog or Commentary! The Musical were no longer being granted by the creators.

I was, I think, the first person to produce this show on stage. You can see a photo of my production (Horrible, Hammer and Penny at Curtain Call) in the book. I can't remember the page number. LOL
Anyway, I had wanted ages ago to see if "Once More With Feeling" from Buffy The Vampire Slayer could be adapted for the stage because my kids were singing it constantly. I called to get ahold of Mr. Whendon and reached his sister-in-law Maurissa Tancheroen (aka Groupie #1). She said that Joss was open to the idea of a stage adaptation, but that he didn't hold the rights to Buffy, Those were owned by FOX. He did however had the rights to his on line musical Dr, Horrible and he asked if I knew it and if I would be interested in adapting that? I think i responded with a "Hell Yeah."
I mentioned that I was a Youth Theater and Mr. Whedon said I could produce the show royalty free. He was happy to support young people and the arts. He did mention that he only had rights to the show and not the the musical commentary that goes with the video so not to use those songs.
If you'd like me to contact Maurissa on your behalf, I think she might still be handling the rights on Dr. Horrible. I don't know. PM me?
I had a great experience working with Joss Whedon. I found him to be a really great guy.

    Mr. Monteverde,

If this is legitimate, I would love to know for sure. I am the drama teacher at Emmett Middle School and I am always looking for options for musicals to produce. I am only in my second year, but we did a fairly well received production of Spamalot and I like finding off-beat adaptations that are not just Disney like the previous drama teacher did.

Is this still a viable option to reach out to Ms. Tancheroen or whoever is the rights holder? I'd have to see if the students are even interested, but it would be cool to have this as an option, as I am a huge fan from when it originally released.

I'd PM, but I don't see an option to (new to the site, my apologies if I'm missing something).
