I am trying to build a more involved parent/adult community within our drama program. It would be helpful for them to be able to communicate with each other without me having to initiate it. Our district won't pay for any other communication tools besides the Google Suite. I was looking for something more than just a Reply All email thread. Does anyone have any tools that they would recommend?

Google Workspace (suite) includes Google Chat (online & app) that lets everyone interact.
Can have multiple different chats — groups, individual.
So could have group chats such as:
Prop crew chat
Set crew chat
House crew chat
Actors chat….
Boosters chat

Big advantage of Google chat: can easily attach and share documents, spreadsheets etc. in the chat.

And you can also leverage the power of Shared drives to create a drive that all can see and do granular control of who can do what by the sharing settings on the drive and each folder in the drive, including preventing access to see inside some folders, only view others, and edit in still others.
