Hi all,

We are wanting to build platforms/levels with curved edges. I am trying to determine how to do this. Structurally, we will use standard platforms 4x8 with some added triangular support sections. But I'm trying to think what to use as facing/masking on the curved front of the platforms. Will luan bend enough to use that in sections? Is there another method or materials you can recommend?

luan may bend enough but to have a better chance, try "bendy board"

It is not inexpensive but would do the job. I also have had success with inexpensive paneling.  I wrapped Rapunzel's

tower in 1/8" paneling (using the back as my surface) and it worked fine.

Cool ground plan! I love that you're rocking an off-center look!

As everyone has said, you have options. For me, it's always about how little I can spend compared to how far away the audience is. If I can get away with cardboard, knowing that I may have to add a treatment to interrupt the way cardboard paints up, then that's probably the cheapest.

However, I use 1/8" masonite for things that need to hold up a bit better; you'll need to plan your seams so they hit supported, less curvey bits. 

There are also times I use fabrics or a mylar fringe curtain. It just depends on the look and budget.
