    Hi

I have a request for background projections of various scenes. The size of the background is a typical stage size - around 10 ft tall and maybe 25 ft wide.

whst kind of projector(s) I need to install without interfering with the stage performers and also have the ability to change the backgrounds based on different scenes.

    Thank you for any recommendations

Here is what has worked for us. Our school purchased a 15k epson projector and the vendor added a lens that make the image needed in our case it is very large, 15 feet by 40.   It is mounted mid stage and does not interfere with lighting because it is so bright.  For some shows, musicals, vendors such as Rick Frendt and BMD offer packages to rent that are affordable and that are often animated. For a regular play we have just used powerpoint and have created stock images in canva or other graphics programs.  Our hope is that in time, as we become more familiar with the process our students can create animations of their own to use for dance recitals and shows.  There are probably rental places in your area who will show you what you need and let you affordably try it out before an expensive purchase.

Broadway Media also has a large digital drops catalog. It is very easy to browse through and find the settings you need.

You really need a very good short throw projector. They range in price but are very pricey to buy one. For our big shows we rent an amazing projector that is short throw with astounding clarity and fills our 40 foot cyc without shadows and loss of lighting techniques. We go through Gemini Lights and Sound for that rental. They are well worth it.
